Driftin' Away

Lyrics   © Dan Edelstein

A long time ago we were children of the river,

Swingin’ on a vine like Tarzan used to do,

Cool blue water tasted just like freedom,

Floatin’ downstream on a lazy afternoon,

Driftin’ away, driftin’ away,

Toes in the water, a hot summer’s day,

Driftin’ away, driftin’ away,

Mem’ries of childhood, we drift on our way,

Aah, aah, leave all our worries behind,

Aah, aah, so much to live for, so little time …

We put our raft in half a mile from Maupin,

Deschutes River runnin’ wild and high,

Rafted down the jaws of Oak Springs Rapids,

Came out laughin’ on the other side,

Driftin’ away, driftin’ away,

Blissfully floating, like clouds on the bay,

Driftin’ away, driftin’ away,

Drink in the beauty we pass on our way,

Aah, aah, leave all our worries behind,

Aah, aah, so much to live for, so little time …

Our passion flows through life like a river,

Sometimes gentle, sometimes ragin’ wild,

We wend our way past fields of rocks and flowers,

Seems we hit white water half the time,

Driftin’ away, driftin’ away,

Love is a journey, we drift on our way,

Driftin’ away, driftin’ away,

Drink in the beauty we pass on our way,

Aah, aah, I’ll love you all of my life,

Aah, aah, so much to live for, so little time …
